It focuses on building strength without building muscle mass, improving mental and physical fitness. It can be performed by everyone young, old, strong, weak, (in)flexible, sedentary or athletic. Great for back pain.
It has shown to be beneficial in rehabilitation after injury and is often recommended by Manual Therapists and Doctors. Benefits include increased flexibility, leaner muscles and coordination leading to increased core strength. Pilates focuses on building core muscles and postural awareness beneficial for the alleviation and prevention of back pain.
